From 23 to 25 October 2026, the Festival of the Slow Cyclist will be held, dedicated to those who choose the bicycle for the very pleasure of pedalling and moving at ease, without chasing performance and odometers. Those who enjoy two wheels without the anxiety of arriving first, who experience the pleasure of the journey rather than the finish line, appreciating landscapes and curiosities they meet along the way... this is the philosophy of the event dedicated to slow cycling, to those who use the cycle paths to bike slowly, without a talent for sport, without times to be respected or records to be set.
Various initiatives will take place, including guided tours and meetings with guests for tales and stories revolving around cycling. Special events on Saturday 24 October include the ‘World's Slowest Pedal Ride’: 5 km in 5 hours in the historic city centre and Sunday 25 October the ‘Granfondo del Merendone’, 45 km around Ferrara.
